(This is the second part of Bro. Eli’s blog about the unbiblical beliefs Mormons preach and why their Jesus Christ is fake.)
3. Adam is Michael, the archangel
Is Adam the Archangel?
According to the Bible, all angels are ministering spirits being sent by God for the benefit of those who will be heirs to salvation.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
How can Adam, who according to the Bible is earthy, be an angel or an archangel when angels are spirits?
I CORINTHIANS 15:45-47
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
Adam according to the true God of the Bible was a transgressor.
THE ROMANS 5:14
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Adam died; he is mortal. In contrast, God the eternal, is immortal.
I TIMOTHY 6:16
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.
Here is what their leader wrote (in Journal of Discourses 1:50 – p.51, Brigham Young, April 9, 1852) –
Doctrine & Covenants 27:11
11 And also with Michael, or Adam, the father of all, the prince of all, the ancient of days; (D&C 27:11; 107:53–54).
Some authorities of the Mormon Church now deny this doctrine; maybe because they have realized the foolishness of their former leaders, but something is worth looking into! They impress that what Brigham Young had allegedly said (Implying it was just said), they can set aside because it is just a theory. Here is what Spencer W. Kimball wrote –
We warn you against the dissemination of doctrines which are not according to the Scriptures and which are alleged to have been taught by some of the General Authorities of past generations. Such, for instance, is the Adam-God theory. We denounce that theory and hope that everyone will be cautioned against this and other kinds of false doctrine. (Spencer W. Kimball, “Our Own Liahona,” Ensign, November 1976, 77).
It is also an anomaly and not part of their doctrine as explained by a Prof. Stephen E. Robinson of the Brigham Young University –
Yet another way in which anti-Mormon critics often misrepresent LDS doctrine is in the presentation of anomalies as though they were the doctrine of the Church. Anomalies occur in every field of human endeavor, even in science. An anomaly is something unexpected that cannot be explained by the existing laws or theories, but which does not constitute evidence for changing the laws and theories. An anomaly is a glitch…. A classic example of an anomaly in the LDS tradition is the so-called “Adam-God theory.” During the latter half of the nineteenth century Brigham Young made some remarks about the relationship between Adam and God that the Latter-day Saints have never been able to understand. The reported statements conflict with LDS teachings before and after Brigham Young, as well as with statements of President Young himself during the same period of time. So how do Latter-day Saints deal with the phenomenon? We don’t; we simply set it aside. It is an anomaly. (BYU professor Stephen E. Robinson).
But this is a blatant lie! It was not just said but a part of the doctrine of Mormonism.
Let us look into this more closely! It is part in fact of their doctrine; there are verses in the Doctrine and Covenants wherein this fallacy is written. What is D & C to them?
The book of Doctrine and Covenants is one of the standard works of the Church in company with the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price. However, the Doctrine and Covenants is unique because it is not a translation of an ancient document, but is of modern origin and was given of God through His chosen prophets for the restoration of His holy work and the establishment of the kingdom of God on the earth in these days. (The Doctrine and Covenants of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by LDS, Avalon Publishers, 12/26/2013, BN ID: 2940012270504).
According to the book, Doctrine and Covenants of the Mormon Church, Verse 54 of Chapter 107, Adam was called Michael, the Prince, the Archangel. This is not just a confusing doctrine but misleading and an invented fallacy.
Doctrine & Covenants 107:53-54
53 Three years previous to the death of Adam, he called Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, and Methuselah, who were all high priests, with the residue of his posterity who were righteous, into the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman, and there bestowed upon them his last blessing.
54 And the Lord appeared unto them, and they rose up and blessed Adam, and called him Michael, the prince, the archangel.
The Biblical facts are:
- Adam is earthy and from the earth. (1 Cor. 15:45-47)
- All angels are spirit beings. (Heb. 1:13-14). Adam was not spirit.
- God will not call Adam Michael because he was previously called by God Adam with his wife Eve.
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
The name Adam refers to both Adam and Eve given on the day that they were created. The name Eve was given by Adam to his wife later.
And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
God is not a God of confusion.
I CORINTHIANS 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
The confusing doctrines of Mormons prove that this organization is not of God!
Even though later leaders of the Mormon Church deny their doctrine that Adam is God and God is Adam, their declaration that Adam is the Ancient of Days mentioned in the book of Daniel will inevitably end to the conclusion that Adam is their God because nobody existed, except God, before the commencement of days.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
A spirit is without flesh and bone.
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Adam had flesh and bones.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Michael, the Archangel, is a spirit! Therefore, Adam is not Michael; Michael is not Adam; and Adam was never God, the Ancient of Days!
