The Quezon Provincial Government and the Quezon Provincial Council for Blood Services Program gave Bro. Eli Soriano their prestigious “Hall of Fame for Kasangga Award” on August 15, citing the International Evangelist’s “advocacy to the Voluntary Blood Donation Program.”
The award was presented to Members Church of God International (MCGI) for the “group’s invaluable support and commitment to the Voluntary Blood Donations Program.” The awarding activity was held in fulfillment of Republic Act 7719 which is the “National Blood Services of 1994.”
Present to receive the award was Katulong ng Pangangasiwa (KNP) Bro. Danny Navales during the First Dugong Quezon Awards Ceremony at the Quezon Convention Center on August 15 this year.
In an interview with UNTV News and Rescue’s Why News program, Bro. Danny said: “I am thankful first to the Lord who gives us, the congregation Members Church of God International (MCGI) good opportunities like this to continually donate blood.” MCGI is more popularly-known in the Philippines for its radio-television program, The Old Path or Ang Dating Daan in Tagalog.
Provincial Administrator Rommel Edaño, Jr. expressed gratitude to Bro. Eli Soriano, the Overall Servant of MCGI, for the continuous support of the group to the blood drive efforts of the local government.
Moreover, the provincial government acknowledged 23 other representatives of MCGI by naming them as Galloners’ Awardees, recognizing the large amount of individual blood donations. Other awardees of the event include PhilHealth, various local government units (LGUs), as well as several individuals.
The Dugong Quezon Awards 2016 Event was held as part of the week-long celebration of Niyog-niyogan festival in the Province. A mass blood donation drive was also held alongside the awarding ceremony where locals were able to donate.
On a quarterly basis, MCGI holds a mass blood donation campaign nationwide and in some countries where the religious group has established presence.
