How do we know if a church is the true church, biblically speaking? In one of his weekly articles published in February, Bro. Eli Soriano wrote why it is not enough that a religious group can boast of its influence and massive population.
In “The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail Against It” (02/18/2017), the international evangelist said a key determining factor to identify a real from fake are the people that comprised such church, using 1 Corinthians 12:28 as basis.
The Roman Catholic Church, with over a billion followers worldwide, makes up one of the largest religious denominations. It believes and claims itself to be the true Christian congregation established during the times of the Apostles.
For its more than a thousand years of existence, they have become one of the oldest religions and remains the most powerful in society. Yet it is far from being the true church in the Bible since the Catholic “papacy” had only started to exist during the 11th Century.
Writing under the nom de plume of Mr Controversy, Bro. Eli said the promise indicated in Matthew 12:28 was meant not for the Catholic Church. Other factors that truthseekers should use in identifying which is the true church is where the God of Truth and Justice should be worshipped.
There is Beauty in Holiness
Another article related to the nature of God and the true Church was published in the first Sunday of February: “Beauty Beyond Senses According to the Bible” (02/04/2017).
Quoting Ephesians 5:27, Bro. Eli wrote that beauty according to the Bible is based on sanctity and holiness – a quality which the Church possesses.
“Surely there is beauty in holiness! God in His holiness is the source of beauty in everything He created,” wrote Bro. Eli. “Even in things or beings regarded as ugly by others beauty is present.”
God is a Just God
In the article “Ignorance of the Law Excuses Someone” (02/11/2017), the radio-television host of the award-winning religious program, Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path), the televangelist biblically dissected the difference of God’s justice with man’s.
He wrote that the law of God pardons those who are ignorant of it. Hence if man’s law excuses no one, the forgiving and just God forgives those ignorant of His law.
A Special People of God
The last article the blogging evangelist has written in February, “The Special People of God that are the Jews” (02/25/2017), was a response to an inquiry from a Malacañan staff, who asked about the plight of the Jewish people amid global economic and societal struggles.
“Although the fewest and the poorest, the Israelites caused a great trouble and defeat of the most powerful empire in the ancient world — the Egyptian empire, which enslaved them for four hundred years,” he wrote.
However, despite the anti-semitic claim, their people do not have a fate of demise says Bro. Eli.
