The Ang Dating Daan Worldwide Bible Exposition conducted on July 21, 2017 served another set of guests from different remote locations around the globe.
Bro. Eli Soriano, host and Over-all Servant of the Members Church of God International (MCGI), led the question-and-answer symposium regularly mounted by the religious organization, in line with its efforts to propagate the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ written in the Bible.
A Query on the Spirits of the Dead
One of the inquirers during the Bible Exposition was a 67-year old guest hailing from the province of Iriga, Camarines Sur. He asked about where a person’s spirit goes after his death and while waiting for his judgement, as well as what the difference between ‘spirit’ and ‘soul’ is.
Bro. Eli began his answer by saying that where the spirit and soul go depends on the person. Addressing the guest’s second question, Bro. Eli read Hebrews 4:12, which states how the word of God can divide soul and spirit, implying that these two come together.
The international televangelist then proceeded by responding to the guest’s initial query. Bro. Eli said that if a person is good, his spirit will go back to God, as written in Hebrews 12:23. On the other hand, the spirits of those unrighteous will be imprisoned.
Come resurrection, both the spirits of the good and the bad will rise from the dead and be judged by God, Bro. Eli explained.
An Advice on Following the Doctrines
A guest from Guam meanwhile asked for advice from Bro. Eli on how he can follow the Church’s doctrine of attending weekly gatherings as his work hours conflict with the schedule these gatherings.
Bro. Eli immediately stated that what he can advise is what is written in the Holy Scriptures.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33 (King James Version)
This is one of the most important teachings of the Gospel, remarked Bro. Eli. The MCGI over-all servant further said that the Church administration can work out a different schedule for the guest so he may be able to attend the Church’s gatherings, ensuring him that the Church continually exerts efforts for the word of God to reach more and more people around the world.
Bro. Eli explained that the Almighty God can provide him anything he needs, that’s why as above-mentioned, the Bible tells us to seek first the kingdom of God before anything else, before food, before clothes, etc. He concluded his answer by posing a logical and biblical statement, “God can give you a good job, but a good job cannot give you a true God.”
